Which channels can my AI agent answer, and how do I turn them on?
A Votel AI agent is omnichannel. The same agent can answer phone calls, reply to SMS, respond to email, answer social media DMs, and run on your website as a widget. The website widget supports voice and typing, and there is also an orb style widget visitors can talk to, which changes color depending on who is speaking. Blue messages (iMessage) are not supported.
A new agent is not on any channel until you turn it on. To turn on a channel:
- Open the agent.
- Open the Channels drop down at the top.
- Flip the switch for each channel you want, for example your phone number. The AI then answers calls on that number.
Voice has no approval process: get a phone number on your account, assign the agent and flip the switch. SMS needs your carrier registration (10DLC) approved first.
A phone number points to one agent. If you want a different agent answering for each website or niche, get a separate number for each. If the agent is generic, with only your brand name and nothing site specific, one number and agent can serve several sites. Put the number on your website so callers reach the agent. You can demo an agent in test mode by voice or by chat.
